About Morton Training Systems

You probably don’t see yourself as a “gym person”. You don’t exactly enjoy the gym or being physical, but you want to get in shape.

You probably struggle to lose weight. And when you do manage to lose weight, you gain it all back within a month.

I bet you feel stuck, like you’ve tried everything and just don’t know what to do.

And you probably beat yourself up for it. You’re a determined person so you’re really hard on yourself when things don’t go exactly as planned.

Since you’re taking the time out of your busy day to read this I’m also guessing you’re ready for change.

You’re ready for something that doesn’t entail spending 4 hours on the elliptical everyday, or giving up ice cream.

You want motivation to come easy. You want advice that’s tailored for you, not for a 20 year old who would rather chop off their left foot than miss a gym day.

You’re ready to make serious lifelong changes so you never have to diet again.

Well, you’re in the right place.

This site is for people who want to get fit without sacrificing everything else.

Who don’t want their entire existence to revolve around the gym. Who don't want to ruin their date by anxiously calorie counting at the restaurant and nervously picking at their sad excuse for a salad.

It's about implementing the time-tested basics of fitness in a way that supports your goals and fits nicely into your lifestyle.

Achieving anything requires sacrifices, of course. But you don't need to sacrifice everything that makes you happy trying to do something that makes you happier.

The mission of Morton Training Systems is for you to not need my help -- for you to be a completely self sufficient fitness machine who can navigate any gym like a pro, and feel completely in control of your diet, your body, and your actions.

My goal is to get you to this level as fast as possible, so I won't ever string you along or try and make you feel dependent on my coaching. I want you to feel like you can do this on your own. Shitty business model, I know -- trying to get rid of the people who pay my rent. That's simply what a coach who has his clients’ best interests in mind ought to do.

The bottom line is to empower you to feel like a strong, resilient, sexy badass that can take on anything life throws your way.

Morton training systems is based on a few core beliefs:

  • I believe you’re stronger and more capable than you may be aware of.
  • I believe fitness should enhance life, not consume it.
  • I believe your worth is NOT determined by your body or your eating habits. You are not your pant size.
  • I believe getting stronger and fitter will make your life more enjoyable, easy, and fulfilling. You’ll become a more awesome version of yourself.
  • I believe health and fitness should be accessible to everyone.

How on earth did I get here?

I sort of stumbled into personal training by accident.

I was always very active growing up, but never thought of myself as a “gym person”, not until college anyway. I was always super scrawny. I did push-ups and 10 lbs bicep curls in secret because I was so embarrassed. I didn’t want to seem like I was trying too hard, or seem vain.

Even in college, I still didn’t really identify with the gym rats who seemed like they took themselves way too seriously and were trying way too hard to assert dominance.

Fast forward 4 years and I’m a year out of college. My alarm violently jolts me awake at 330 am. I restrain the overwhelming impulse to smash my phone with the nearest blunt object.

While I’m fumbling around in the dark trying to find my socks, I keep asking myself: “How is this my life?”.

I was working at a cafe in SF as a prep cook and interning at a Non-profit on the side. And I had a 2 hour bus ride ahead of me, from Oakland to San Francisco.

Working 7 days a week and I was going … nowhere. Until a friend who I was teaching Muay Thai to suggested I try personal training because she thought I’d be good at it.

And that’s how I got started, but that’s not why I stayed.

I quickly fell in love with seeing light bulbs appear above my clients’ heads after they lifted a weight they once thought impossible. I soon realized this was an amazing medium for changing people’s lives.

I saw how people weren’t being fully served by the fitness industry. They weren't being helped in the way they needed to be.

Trainers would bark at people saying: “you just don’t want it bad enough”; “you just need to cut out carbs”; “you just need to drink apple cider vinegar”.

The “you just need to do this, you just need to do that” strategy is a disservice. I saw how trainers based their "motivational tactics" on shame and judgement, rather than empathy and empowerment.

People weren’t being heard, they were just be told what to do. Their concerns and their needs weren’t being met. And I realized enough was enough.

I knew then that training was the best way to use my skills, knowledge, and work ethic to add something positive to the world.

I decided to work towards changing the popular negative narratives around fitness and body image to empower you. So you can continue to do your own meaningful work and add your own positivity to the world.

I will help you realize your potential, not just in the gym, but outside of it too. After every session you will leave the gym a stronger, more resilient, and empowered person.

Because everyone deserves to be healthy and motivated regardless of race, gender, sexual affiliation, or class.
